The "True Gor" concept

Lately I've been thinking about how to make SL Gor better.

There is much to say for it, and generally it's a well run and organized concept but their are problems with it. From those who think it is nothing a place for "kinky stuff" to those who are just interested in waving a sword about.

Their are however "lifestylers" who differ in that approach. Some of us are serious about the philosophy and concepts and try to apply them to our regular lives. Others, like me, try to assume that the world created by John Norman is real...and let our characters act in accordance to living in that world.

Bella Sloan gave the following definitions on the Gorean Forums.

Gor Gamers = People who just come for Gor-themed combat play

Sex Players = Those that come to Gor to satiate a desire for Master/slave sex fetishism

RP Storyliners = People who "play a character" that may or may not be anything like their own RL personality and specifically fabricate events to develop actionable activities

RP Characters = People who "play a character" that may or may not be anything like their own RL personality who exist only in the immersive SL Gor environment reacting to the events that occur in the day-to-day organically occurring activities between developed characters, as they believe "their character should."

RP Lifestylers = People who embody their avatars with their own RL personalities who react very personally to the immersive SL Gor environment within the cultural expectations of the fictional world of Gor and develop emotionally invested and intimate interpersonal relationships that may or may not be the same nor extend to the alternative social structure outside of SL.

Real Lifestylers = People who embody their avatars with their own RL personalities who react very personally to the immersive SL Gor environment with RL expectations guided by the principals of Gorean philosophies, who may already have and/or wish to develop emotionally invested and intimate interpersonal relationships that extend beyond SL into their own similar RL social structure.

Now we have all fallen in one of those categories at one time or another and overlap is inevitable.

What I am interested in is the last three groups and this is where I think most serious role players fall. This is the group that wishes that SL Gor was a bit more realistic.

To them, I have the following half baked proposal. Which already has two pages of comments on the Gorean Forum site where it was originally proposed. I'm sure more will come.

We create a new meter in which healing takes hours and days depending on the injury. Not minutes. And if your attacked while wounded, your meter will be affected. This will create less meaningless raids.

Two: We limit the number of cities that are labeled "true Gor" and stay only within those cities. I think maybe 50 total.
These cities agree to the same rules and regs as every other city - with some regional variations. But they all have the same meters and requirements for the citizens.

Three: To be a "True Gorean", you have to take a standardized test of knowledge. You agree to take a class as well on Gorean culture and honor. We train our slaves, why not the free as well?

Four: ALL new woman to the city are free woman for at least 30 days. I think this would increase the number of free woman RP we have in Gor. Plus I think many kajira like Gor but think that FW's would be boring, and this would show them it's not. And this would eliminate the guys that think every woman on Gor is a kajira! (see test above as well)

Five: In order to keep the cities viable. Each Gorean will pay about $L2000 (under $10 US a month) to RP. It will be spread out along the cities to defry costs. And for the Collectors out there - remember that owning a slave is expensive. So you pay an extra $500 for every girl over two that you own.
Slavers are exempt from this, that is how they make their living. But they would be expected to sell off their stock at regularly.

So what do you think? A viable idea?

I admit it needs fine tuning, but it's not a bad idea I think.
